  • January clay collection Coming Soon!

I've been hard at work on my first clay collection, and y'all I am stoked about it. The whole collection will be dropping on January 26th, and you'll be able to find it here.

  • Source Highlight: I, Robot by Isaac Asimov

In a world that is increasingly automated and technically connected, I'm very interested in how we choose to moralize about these connections. I think it's going to be a supremely important ethical question, and one that I hope we choose to address together before it feels like it's Too Late. So I appreciate works of fiction that help bring these questions to us in digestible ways, so we can start to consider what it might mean, for instance, for AI to feel or think or love. What it might mean for AI to be an integrated part of our society.

  • Interested in joining an artist mastermind group to level up your art business?

Are you an active artist working on growing your artistic business? Do you feel a little lonely or isolated as a solo entrepreneur? Are you not sure what steps to take to reach your goals and not sure who to talk to? Do you ask yourself questions like “How do I make a living selling art but also live by anti-capitalist values and be a good human in the world?”

Do you know what some of your top goals are for your art business in 2021, but just aren't totally sure on how to achieve them? Can you commit to show up to twice monthly meetings to share thoughts, set goals, give and receive feedback, and generally help everyone in the group achieve their goals?

If the answer to the above questions is yes, than this is definitely something I'd love for you to explore with me.

  • Commissions are now open!

Are you interested in working with me to create the painting of your dreams? Well you can now! I've opened commissions for the spring. I will be accepting a limited number of commissions, so reach out now if you'd like to work together. Whether you'd like a watercolor floral piece, a custom poem, a handwritten quote on an abstract background, or some mix of the above, I'd love to talk to you about it.

  • Intro to Monthly Series, and January Announcement

Last fall, I quietly started choosing one flower a month and making my art centered around it. I mentioned it to my patrons, but I didn't make too much of a fuss about it because I was still figuring it out. But a couple months later, I can say that I've really been enjoying it. By choosing a specific plant, I take away some of the paralysis around "what should I paint?" because I've already answered that question. So I get to allow myself to just focus on more deeply exploring that one thing instead of getting overwhelmed by the possibilities.

Alongside just exploring the plants through painting and drawing, I research the symbolism and history of the flowers and use the themes there to determine which poems I choose to add to the paintings. I've been using Flowerpedia by Cheralyn Darcy as a useful reference, as well as various internet resources asI dig a little deeper. It's been a fun adventure getting to explore both the external shape of the plants while I paint them and then the internal layers and meanings as I add in the poetry.

I'll be doing this more officially through the rest of 2021. You'll see me announce the month's theme at the beginning of the month here, then start sharing the work as I'm creating it (especially on my Instagram, though I'll try to write some blog posts about works-in-progress), and then at the end of the month I'll put many of the pieces into the monthly zine I ship to my mail art patrons, and then I'll release the original pieces for sale!
